Consultations

What happens during a consultation?

We listen to your concerns and goals, review the basic facts, explain how Florida family law applies, discuss strategies and next steps, and answer your questions in clear terms.

What should I bring?

If available: existing court orders or agreements, recent financial information or pay stubs, court papers you have received, and parenting plans or mediation agreements. Don’t worry if you don’t have everything.

Is it confidential?

Yes. Information you share is protected and will not be disclosed without your permission, even if you don’t move forward with representation.

Who should schedule one?

Anyone considering divorce, involved in a custody or time-sharing dispute, dealing with child support or alimony, facing a relocation request, seeking to modify or enforce an order, or unsure of their rights.

Divorce & property

Is property split 50/50 in Florida?

Florida uses equitable distribution: fair, but not always equal.

Can my divorce be resolved without trial?

Many cases resolve through negotiation and mediation; others need hearings or trial.

Children

Does Florida still use the word “custody”?

Florida courts address parental responsibility and time-sharing in a parenting plan, based on the child’s best interests.

How is child support calculated?

Using statutory guidelines based on both parents’ income, health insurance and childcare costs, and the number of overnights with each parent.

Can I move with my child?

A move of more than 50 miles for 60+ consecutive days requires the other parent’s consent or a court order.

After the judgment

Can orders be changed?

Most can be modified upon a substantial, material and unanticipated change in circumstances.

What if the other side ignores an order?

Florida law provides enforcement tools, including a motion for contempt.
